DESCRIPTION
Peroxynitrite has been shown to readily react with most biological molecules, lipids, amino acids and DNA, causing extensive cell damage, and γ-tocopherol is much more efficient than αtocopherol in removing the peroxynitrite-derived nitrating species, acting as a trap for membrane-soluble electrophilic nitrogen oxides and other electrophilic mutagens. AC-CHN-P, like γ-tocopherol, is very effective in inhibiting peroxynitrites and electrophilic nitrogen oxides aswell as preventing lipid peroxidation.
