1,2-Pentanediol is almost colorless, tasteless and can effectively locks in skin moisture, reduces transdermal moisture loss, and increases skin moisture content. Acting as a non-conventional preservative, it helps to reduce the concentration of traditional or alternative preservatives by
boosting their anti-microbial activity. It can also be used to protect formulations in the absence of conventional preservatives.
